About 4 days ago I started reading the Catcher in the Rye, which everyone says is a "great American classic". I on the other hand, had a very hard time figuring out why. Many different times there would be the same sentence twice, one right after the other (except the second sentence was just revised). I'm guessing that's how Holden was intended to talk, either way it made it hard for me to keep reading. The main thing that made it hard for me to keep reading on was the simple fact that the book didn't seem to have any main purpose, just some annoying kid that wont stop blabbering about how horrible his life is. Which in all honesty is his fault. I'm sure "old Sally Hayes" would have given him a chance if he wasn't pushy and rude. And seriously, you meet up with an intellectual friend and the only thing you can do is ask unwanted sexual questions. All in all I would give the book half a star. Definitely not one I would want to read again. Ever.
19 years of age. Born and raised by the beach in Florida. I'm no where close to the definition of popular. If I could I would use a time machine to go back to the 90s and waste the night away in a dimly lit apartment, conversing with total strangers about music. My favorite smell is a blend of freshly brewed coffee and lit cigarettes. I dream of living in Seattle and becoming either a Barista or a Marine Biologist. My favorite band is The Smashing Pumpkins, film is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and book is The Godfather. My favorite color is grey. I am an Atheist. I HATE clean homes and small towns. I'm also about 1000% sure that when I do die it will be from a bear attack.
